2. Add Your Products

From your dashboard, select Products > Products from the menu bar.

1) Click on the on the next page (just to the left of the bold Products title)to add a new product.

2) On the next page, click on the General tab and fill in the following information:

  • Name - name of the product

  • Categories - select all the categories you'd like to be listed under in the store
(Click the  button to see the checklist)

  • Price - This is the current price of the item

  • Full description - Add any information you see fit here to encourage your customer to purchase the item.  Include all information a customer might want to know such as special features or uses of the product.
Include Sizes, Colours available, Materials used etc.

  • Status - should be "Active" if you want this product visible to the public.

  • Images - Select and upload the primary image of the product here from you computer. This will be the image seen in all search queries and promotion. (There is a secondary section (under the Images tab) to upload other views and detail shots of the product.)

Click on the Local button to upload a file from your computer.

The URL button is used if the image already exists on the web. In this case you could input the full URL of this image.

Pricing/Inventory section:

  • SKU - a unique product number (optional) but useful if you have a large number of products or options.

  • List price ($) - If you input a higher value here than in the "Price" field above, the store will display a discount flag to let customers know the item is on sale.

  • In stock - The number of this product you have available for sale. When a customer purchases a product, the store will automatically reduce this value by one. When there are no products left, a "sold out" indicator will be displayed beside the item in the store. (See Inventory below)

  • Inventory - "Track without options" should be selected if you want the store to automatically track the quantity remaining for sale. Select "Do not track" if you don't want the store to do this for you.

  • Taxes - If you choose to collect taxes on your sales, checking "Canada" will automatically assess the correct provincial and federal taxes on this item.

3) Click  to save your changes.

When the page refreshes you should now see a few more tabs available (Options and Shipping Properties).

You can Preview your product now (or anytime), by clicking on the  button and selecting Preview. The browser will open a new window and show you the product as it appears on its product page.

4) Next click on the Images tab.

Use this area to add additional images to help illustrate qualities of your product that might have not been shown in the main image. Detail shots or images taken from alternate angles work well. If you don't have any shots ready, you can add or edit these later.

Adding an image works the same way as on the General tab. Select your source and upload.

To the right of the image upload you'll also find these controls.

Use them to:

  • add additional upload slots (click the "+" icon)
  • duplicate an item (click the duplicate icon)
  • delete an item (click the "x" icon).

5) Next click on the Options tab.

"Options" are the variations that occur in some kinds of products - like sizes or colours for clothing. If you create options for this product special controls will appear on the product page that will allow customers to select specific options and even display photos that reflect those changes.

For example: You are selling a blouse and it comes in 3 sizes and 4 colours. Creating these options would allow your customers to select a Medium version in Turquoise and see a photo preview that reflects those options.

Setting up product options can be time consuming and involved, so in the interest of brevity for this Guide, we've listed instructions for this feature in a separate article here. You can also contact support with specific questions about adding product options.

6) Next click on the Shipping Properties tab:

You only need to fill out this section if you want to calculate your shipping by Weight, if you want this product specifically to have free shipping, or if you want an additional shipping cost calculated on top of your flat rate shipping method.

Weight - used when calculating shipping rates

Free shipping - check this box if you do not want to include a shipping charge for this item. This would make sense if you have "built-in" the shipping cost in the price of the item, or if the shipping charge would be minor.

Shipping freight - a specific shipping cost for this item only. This adds an additional fee on top of the calculated shipping charge for this product. Refer to the discussion in Flat Rate Shipping for advice on when to use this feature.

Items in a box - Not in use at this time.

Box dimensions (l, w, h) - Not in use at this time.
